Director of Corporate Communications, Wakefield

The Director of Corporate Communications will be expected to build and lead a communications strategy that will increase awareness of Curaleaf and its unique position within the cannabis industry, as well as the broader business community, as the fastest growing industry in the United States.  


  • Design, build and lead a lean, proactive communications and media relations strategy
  • In partnership with marketing, manage external communications, media relations, internal and executive communications, product communications, crisis communications, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community relations
  • Build out and maintain strong relationships with the media to enhance positive coverage
  • Develop new content creation strategies that advance enthusiasm for and understanding of the Curaleaf brand
  • Generate earned media results that meaningfully build the reputation of the company, its management, and its products
  • Set all Curaleaf corporate and executive communications agendas; create the calendar for corporate participation in external engagement opportunities and prepare spokespeople for media interaction and public appearances
  • Have a passion for internal communications and in partnership with Human Resources, build a function that supports impactful cross company communications
  • Identify and develop a program by which to measure influencer and communications efforts in traditional and social media by developing KPIs and objectives, leveraging data to provide ongoing strategic recommendations
  • Work collaboratively with external agency partners to advance and support programs designed to elevate and enhance Curaleaf’s corporate narrative and reputation


Ideal Experience:

  • Approximately 10-15 years of experience in communications and public relations, with significant experience in fast paced, consumer-facing companies.


  • Intellectual horsepower with a high degree of curiosity and the ability to understand complexity
  • Outstanding and crisp written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent storytelling experience
  • Ability to make an impact and quickly establish the trust of all stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of media landscape – brings established media relationships
  • Ability to leverage content to generate increased awareness and understanding
  • Experience navigating a strongly regulated environment
  • Must be highly collaborative, flexible and adaptable and bring the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, rolling up the sleeves and effectively managing details
  • Must be entrepreneurial, with a self-starter energy and the ability to work flexible work hours as needed to meet tight deadlines
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
