National Hemp Compliance Director, Wakefield

Curaleaf Hemp, is seeking an experienced National Hemp Compliance Director to manage national and international compliance for our Hemp product line.  This position reports to Curaleaf’s VP of Compliance; with a dotted line to the President of Curaleaf Hemp. The Compliance Director will ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures; create process maps and supporting standard operating procedures (S.O.P.s) and lead health and safety compliance. Since this is a national position some travel will be required (the position will be located in Kentucky or Massachusetts).


  • Gain thorough understanding of FDA and individual state Hemp Regulations and Statutes under the state Departments of Agriculture and Food Safety
  • Provides FDA expertise to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal and State requirements regulating the manufacturing and distribution of drug, device and food products under Hemp
  • Monitor performance against Quality standards and champion suggestions for continuous improvement
  • Maintain all applicable licenses required by law. Develop an internal compliance monitoring system for local and e-commerce hemp operations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all applicable regulatory and compliance agencies
  • Monitor and maintain compliance in all cultivation, handler, and manufacturing, and dispensary operations for Hemp and Hemp derived product’s
  • Work closely with QA to create process maps and standard operating procedures for all processes
  • Create distribution manifests and maintain accurate inventory control records
  • Work with Security to ensure workplace health and safety policies and procedures are followed
  • Modify processes and practices to ensure compliance in accordance with state and federal law
  • Conduct investigations when appropriate
  • Draft and implement corrective action measures in relation to compliance and QA/QC findings
  • Liaise with corporate compliance office to report any legal concerns, stay abreast of compliance updates, and best practices
  • Conduct environmental assessments of dispensary, cultivation and manufacturing operations, to mitigate any risks that could lead to violations, fines and loss of license
  • Collaborate with QA/QC Manager to Develop Quality Assurance standards for critical processes, assist department managers to ensure quality objectives are achieved
  • Work with Inventory Control to perform regular audits and make recommendations for improvements
  • Assist state and local government auditors and law enforcement with inventory, sales and compliance audits
  • Monitor security cameras and footage if necessary
  • Monitor regulatory changes and make recommendations to operational functions to adhere to those changes
  • Willingness to complete all required training’s and certifications for the position
  • Monitor and report incidents and violations to VP of Compliance, President of Curaleaf Hemp, and regulatory bodies as required


  • Bachelor’s Degree in any business-related capacity or equivalent experience. (Legal, PublicPolicy,Pharmaceutical or Compliance & Ethics, Healthcare concentrations desired)
  • Experience with Global Food Safety Standards (BRC, SQF, or FSSC22000), Pharmaceutical ISO 22716 Certified and HACCP
  • 6+ years of progressive responsibility in a compliance role or regulatory field
  • Experience in federal or state regulatory compliance management role (preferably FDA and USDA)
  • Experience in writing and training team members on implementation of SOP’s
  • General knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
  • Meticulous attention to detail is required
  • Proficient in spreadsheet and data management software
  • Experience in staff training and development desired
  • Extensive background check is required for this role
